Battery World Hobart has entered an exciting new chapter, with Zain Ul Abidin taking the lead as the store’s new franchise owner, supported by business partner Waqas Rashid.
With a background in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wollongong and extensive experience across manufacturing and logistics in Melbourne, Zain brings a strong hands-on and problem-solving mindset to the business. He is passionate about applying this experience to support Hobart locals, as well as travellers exploring Tasmania’s rugged and beautiful landscapes.
After relocating from Melbourne, Zain says he was immediately drawn to Hobart’s welcoming and close-knit community.
“Hobart has a genuinely friendly feel to it,” Zain said.
“It felt like the right place to settle, build something long-term, and be part of a community where relationships really matter.” he said.
Supporting Zain is his brother-in-law and business partner, Waqas, who oversees the business’s financial management and administrative operations. Working behind the scenes, Waqas ensures the store’s systems, compliance, and financial processes are running smoothly, allowing the Hobart team to focus on delivering great service to customers.
Looking ahead, Zain is focused on strengthening Battery World Hobart’s connection with the local community — not just through reliable power solutions, but by actively supporting local initiatives. A keen sports enthusiast, he is looking forward to continuing and growing the store’s involvement with local sporting groups and charities, including the Derwent Sailing Squad.
