A local business is leading the charge to help WA's endangered black cockatoos.

Battery World in Canning Vale and Welshpool are donating $1 from the sales of any Aussie-made Auto Battery this month to Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Society to help the endangered Australian wildlife.

WA's South-West region is home to three species of black cockatoos found no-where else in the world.

The owner of both local Battery World stores, Matt Fulford (pictured), said customers were increasingly looking for local products and to support local causes.

In August, the store will also be sponsoring the release of an injured black cockatoo into the wild and is encouraging locals to help name the bird via the store's Facebook page, with the winner being given the opportunity to help release the bird.
