While he’s gone from owning a sizeable distribution business with more than 40 staff, one might suggest Shane Hopcroft’s three-man operation at Pakenham a considerable downsizing exercise, but not Shane.
After decades at the helm of multiple businesses, Shane’s dedication, and sense of pride when it comes to doing a good job and creating opportunities doesn’t boil down to the size of the team. According to Shane, one of the things he takes the most pride in as an employer is knowing that he can support and create stability in his team’s lives.
The move from owner to franchisee has provided Shane with a renewed sense of drive and empowered him to make time for his passions. These include fishing and membership in the Yarra Valley Harley Davidson group — which he sponsors through the Pakenham store.
Since Shane took over the Pakenham store, he has achieved turning his tight-knit team into something of a family.
Shane’s success with the Pakenham store has inspired him and his best mate to take on another location in Lilydale.
When Shane is not in store serving his loyal customers, he is on his Harley Davidson going for scenic drives through Victoria or throwing a line from his boat.
