Meet the Owners
Wyong locals Susan and Paul Rodak believe fate played a role in their decision to become Wyong's Batteryologists.
It is no secret in town, Susan Rodak owns and operates a successful ANZ mobile lending business, but she was also looking for a business she could run together with her husband Paul.
While the duo looked at a variety of franchises: it came down to two things that set their feet walking in Battery World's direction: Paul's love of cars and the company's association with Guide Dogs Australia.
"While our due diligence did highlight Battery World as a stand out, our son Fred, 17 has Retinitis Pigmentosa - the leading cause of youth blindness," Susan said, "And while he currently recieves cane training with a Guide Dogs Mobility Instructor, he is going to university in 2019 and in time he would love to be guide dog assisted. He has been at the same school all his life so is familiar with getting around, but he plans to study at the University of Newcastle so a guide dog will provide him with much better mobility than a cane.
"Together with the fact Paul has been working in the smash repairs business for 30 years and loves all things auto, Battery World stood out as a perfect fit and then when you throw in the company's commitment to Guide Dogs Australia and the the perfect fit became almost fate. We knew we had made the right choice."
The duo plans to be hands on in the store: Susan's credentials as one of the leading franchises within ANZ for customer service satisfaction means shoppers will recieve exceptional customer service. They have been brought in their neighbour Anthony Faulkner to work with them. All three undertaking extensive training with battery manufacturers and suppliers.
"Shoppers keep saying customer service has 'gone out the window' - that is why so many people are being drawn to shopping on the Internet," Susan said, "We want to give people the specialised advice they need for everything from their four wheel drive or boat, right down to caravans, solar power and domestic batteries.
When they are not working in their Battery World store the quirky duo are keen fans of the horror genre: even inspired to name their three boys after horror favourites - Bram, 19, after Dracular author Bram Stoker, Fred, 17 after Freddie Kruger and their youngest Dexter, 8, - after the TV series.
