Meet the owners

If there is one lesson Battery World Hervey Bay’s Mary Morrissey lectures her team about its customer service.

The former schoolteacher and assistant principal is a sticker for really giving her customers her best that’s why Harvey Bay Battery World has fast become a one-stop shop for battery needs.

The family opted for a sea change from Sydney to Hervey Bay more than a decade ago with almost everyone in the family working in the store at some stage. Today her son David and his wife join Mary along with her grand children who do odd jobs for pocket money.  The store has a real family vibe to it, as everyone does their best to keep customers powered up in this time of technology that has most gadgets running on portable power.

The Battery World Hervey Bay team love being able to fix people’s problems and give them a solution to their power issues and troubles. Hervey Bay has a strong commitment to their local community through recycling initiatives at schools and local retirement villages. They support many charities along with hosting fundraising events for the United Warriors Soccer Team.

They are big supporters of local sport including hockey and cricket and it’s not unusual to see the team-playing cricket in the driveway after work on Saturday.

I just wanted to say thank you for going the extra mile for us. We damaged our battery whilst on Fraser Island and our car was not going anywhere without a new one. In the phone call I made to you, I was treated respectfully and politely. You then supplied us with a new battery. You got it to the River Heads barge and even when there was a bit of a mix up there, John didn't bat an eyelid. Some organisations would take advantage of situations like ours, and maybe charge more than what is fair, but you didn't. You clearly know what true customer service is.
